My Dart 440 with Polara 500 fenders
(long story) I've had for 15 years so far.

The Dart is my every day driver!

So far I've added front Disc brakes, Wieand 4bbl intake and Carter AFB carberator, since after driving over 100,000 on the original Poly motor, a poor intake seal caused premature engine failure.

So now a 1964 Poly 318/TorqueFlite combo resides in the old Dodge.

I rebuilt the top end with reground cam and lifters, cam bearings, double roller timing chaine, etc..., new oil pump, fuel pump, MP viscous fan, finally found the right radiator and fan shroud, K&N air filter and MP electronic ignition package. (The orange box died so now I have a cheap Wells unit that seems to work fine!) I also added KYB shocks and had the rear springs re-arced. The Dart could use some new torsion bars, too.

Inside I've done the headliner twice and repainted the door panels and dash pad. I made a speaker delete panel out of redwood and painted it to match....The front seat was redone at a local shop. I'm still waiting for the wind/lace weather striping for the doors, could use some window channel too. I had to tear out the carpet because of the leaks and hole in driver's side floor. Also need to redo the head light wiring and dash lights.

1964 Poly 318 in the '62 Dart 440 wagon:
The top end was rebuilt with new cam bearings,
reground cam and lifters.
The cam specifications are:
dur. dur. @ .050 lift clearance
intake 270 206 445 018
exhaust 274 212 445 018
110 degree LC

Heads were cleaned up with 3 angle
valve job, hardened seats, etc. and
a little bit of port and polish on
the exhaust, and shaved 030, with
new seals and springs, new oil pump
and fuel pump, double roller timing
chain, Weiand 4bbl intake sealed
with Offy intake gaskets I got from
Gary P. There is a 1 inch spacer under the Carter AFB, which I think flows 625 cfm?

Anyone got some pipe lay'n around?

Other things I'd like to do are get some cop car ralley wheels, SureGrip rear end, rear main seal, rod bearings, Polara 500 hood ornament. I also have a Barracuda flip top gas cap I'd like to install, sway bars, shift kit and or rebuilt tranny...etc... and if I ever get rich a HEMI.

1962 Dart 440 Station Wagon driver side That's all for now. Thanks for the Web site and
help from the '62 to '65 Mail List Clubhouse;

Thanks, Schuyler!

What a wonderful daily driver!

It must give those "modern" SUV's fits when they see a real utility vehicle.   smile!
