1965 Argyle Dodge Highlander

Heather writes: I'm looking to find out the whereabouts or information on the history of one of the original batch of A990 1965 SuperStock cars, and one of the few to be campaigned in Canada.

The car was driven by John Petrie who went on to host and run the Supercar clinics. He also campaigned both the Dodge and Plymouth "Clinic" cars from 1968 to 1971 in Canada. The Mopar was owned (I believe) by Argyle Chrysler which was a very Performance oriented dealership, sort of a smaller version of Mr. Norm's, but in Cooksville Ontario Canada.

My only other tid bit of information is that later the Dodge was modified as a wheelstander. Yes, they removed the gas tank, installed a "moon" gas tank through the grill and welded skid plates underneath and weighted the trunk. I understand from those who witnessed it the car would pull a wheelie the full quarter mile. Quite a different story compared to most superstocks that were converted to Altered Wheelbase cars.

The Dodge was campaigned regularly at Cayuga Dragway Park, now Toronto Motorsports Park.

Love the car and would like to know what happened to part of Canada's Drag racing history....

Thanks Heather!

Let's see if someone knows the scoop!   smile!
