1962 Plymouth Fury

Works in Progress

Bill writes: My father was a Service Manager for a local Chrysler Dealer in 1962 when the bulletin came out describing the limited production Max Wedge Package. I was driving a 1948 Plymouth with a Dodge Red Ram and a beefed 2 speed Powerflite transmission, which I immediately sold and purchased my first 1962 Plymouth.

The Mopar was was a white Sport Fury, brown interior, with the 413 / 410hp Max Wedge package.

Doug Thorley used my Plymouth as a pattern for his first set of Max Wedge headers.

1962 Plymouth Sport Fury - modified I was drafted and went to Viet Nam and by the time I got back, my Plymouth was unrecognizable. It had a Dodge aluminum front end, the roof removed and a blown, Hilborne injected hemi replacing my original block.

Over several years, the car became Pete’s “Lil” Demon AA funny car. (Pete is my dad.) Demon AA funny car

I purchased the Fury in the article from Vern and it now resides in Reno, Nevada.

40 Years have passed and I now have a ’62 again and am slowly restoring it to a Max Wedge configuration. I still have many of the original parts from my first ’62 to help with the restoration.

I will send more pictures as the restoration proceeds.

Thanks Bill!

There is a lot of great Mopar history in your family!

Look forward to the future pictures.  smile!
