426 Mopar Marine Engine

426 marine engine Mike writes: I am looking for some info about the motor in my boat.

It is a 1962 426 Wedge. The heads have 4 bolts for the valve covers and are stamped 6-8-62. The block has a casting number of 2406730-1 and the front of block has AAQA 2R. On the side of the block there are 8 dots in a circle with a hash mark towards the top. What does that mean? The manifold is a cross ram 2-4 aluminum intake. I think this motor came out of a 1962 Fury and was set into the boat.

Any help would be great.

1962 would equal a 413 wedge, casting number 2120529 or 2205697. Someone could have installed a 426 in the 1962 at a later date.

2406730 is a 426 for 1963 to 1965, both wedge and Max Wedge.
